Orcas Island Lit Fest Expands to Anacortes Town for the First Time
Orcas Island Lit Fest expanded to Anacortes, celebrating Pacific Northwest authors, including Sonora Jha, Kirsten Millares Young, and Joshua Mohr.on Sep 18, 2024
This year, Orcas Island Lit Fest (OILF), which hosts their annual literature festival on Orcas Island, expanded its celebration to Anacortes. Anacortes, a town known for its vibrant arts scene, reveled last Friday in the celebration of creativity bought by OILF.
OLIF invited local authors who represented the literary culture of the Pacific Northwest. The authors’ genres ranged from contemporary fiction to exploratory poetry.

In total, 29 authors participated in the Anacortes festival, including notable writers such as Sonora Jha, whose book The Laughter was named one of 2023's best by The New Yorker, Kirsten Millares Young, author of Subduction, a staff pick by The Paris Review, and Joshua Mohr, whose book Termite Parade was a New York Times editor’s choice.
The festivities continued on September 14, returning to its original home on Orcas Island.
